.17 WMR questions

I am planning to reline an old .22 for .17 WMR cartridge. I don't have any experience with this cartridge. Am told to go with 1:10 twist barrel with bullet weights under 30 grains. Any advice would be appreciated.

Not to sound too nitpicky, but there is no such cartridge as a .17 WMR, there is a .17 HMR (Hornady Magnum Rimfire). Marlin barrels their .17 HMR rifles with a 1:16" rate of twist, CZ uses a 1:9" twist, so 1:10 would probably work well.

Thanks for the correction, I meant .17 HMR. Redman liners are available in 1:9 and 1:10, so I think I will go with the 1:10. I've heard its always better to go with the faster twist when in doubt. I'm not sure I agree with that, but I will be using lighter bullets.
