How to shoot/transition to a Glock well

First and foremost, make sure you have mastered the fundamentals of your preferred technique (i.e. grip, stance, etc.).

The most important and unappreciated part of a Glock is its trigger reset.

If you learn and understand the reset, you'd consider the Glock above and beyond many other semiautomatic pistols out there.

Two things must be done to appreciate and take advantage of the Glock's relatively short reset:

1) Take off the slack prior to squeezing your trigger

2) After you've squeezed the trigger and have released your shot, slowly allow the trigger to reset. The moment you hear the click, do not allow the trigger to travel forward.

Now take the shot again.

That's it. Now go get yourself a Glock and enjoy the kool aid.

3) Buy a Ghost Rocket trigger kit w/springs and ditch the crappy stock Glock trigger.

Lol no need to buy a new trigger just work the stock with a stone, a few set screws, different springs, hmmm on second thought probably easier to buy a new trigger!

Oh yeah.

I prefer the 5lb Tactical though, because it resets more positively and with more force. The "break" is also crisper.

I have gone back to stock springs and connectors in my 26 and my 19. I tried different combo and just found that I personally prefer/shoot the stock set up better.

Took me about 1500 rounds before the Glock trigger became "habit" but now I'm glad I practiced so much because I shoot the Glock much faster with the same accuracy as I did with the revolvers I came from.

I still got a special spot in my heart for a high quality revolver though! Nothing like it!

Hank15,

Funny that you post this thread....coinkydink.

Watched a YT video last week where a "tactical" dude was showing how to double-tap shots with a Glock. I am the least "tactical" sort of shooter, but while at the range last weekend I had to give this a go.

Did exactly what you and the YT guy said do....low and behold I double tapped a target. It was only like 15' away, but I did it. The wife even freeked when she saw it. She said "That almost sounded/looked like one shot, but you put two in the target.

(tried it again, but I missed the seconcd shot)

I can see how this could be practiced for refinement after time.

What? Definitely a matter of opinion.

Well, in terms of the reset, there aren't many that are comparable and/or can top it.

Good 1911s, the S&W 915 or any other older semiautos are comparable.

But the Berettas, CZs, Sig, etc. aren't even in the same league in terms of the reset.

Add a new connector from Ghost into the equation, and well...there you go.
