Quick wood grip question
Is there a way to clean wood grips? A little character on the grips is good, but sometimes they get real grungy, & i cant see the beautiful grain anymore. Any ideas?

Depending on the age of the gun, the grips can have a variety of finishes. When I'm not sure what I've got, I start with a 50/50 mix of vinegar and warm water, which works real well. After that, you start looking into more aggressive cleaners that may damage the finish.

Scotts Liquid Gold. Cuts the crud, brightens the wood grain without darkening it.

Flooring shops and furniture stores (and big box stores) sell several wood cleaning compounds that will remove dirt and crud without harming the wood.
It helps to know what the manufacturer put on the grips - spar varnish, linseed oil, lacquer, etc. Jim |
