Ammo can question - metal or plastic?

I was just wondering if anyone here had any opinion on their preference of ammo cans for long term storage. The military metal can or the plastic ones? There seems to be some pros and cons to both.

I like the fact that the plastic ones have a feature that allows you to put a lock, and also a new rubber seal, but can they become brittle over time? The surplus mtal cans have proven themselves to be very sturdy over time, but I'm concerned about worn rubber seals on the lids. Any thoughts?

Do you plan on submerging them in water?????????? I have metal cans and have had no issues with them. As far as the plastic cans go, if you do not plan on letting them sit in the sun day after day, I would say you'll be dead before they get brittle under normal use. Just my opinion

If you are storing them inside your home, I prefer metal, seal be damned.
