What new guns laws proposed will actually pass?
I am going with the foregone conclusion that after VP Biden submits his report to President Obama it will contain numerous gun control measures.
Here are a few I see: 1. Elimination of the so-called GunShow loophole. 2. Reinstatement permanently of the AWB 3. Repeal of the Tiahrt Amendment 4. Records of multiple sales of guns required to BATFE There may be more but my question is what of these will actually pass? Any, all? What will the NRA offer up? Anything? What will the NRA fight. My assertion is now that due to the horrific nature of the Newtown CT shootings is that some gun control will be passed. How much and what is what I am asking you to handicap.

Possibly the so called gun show loophole and a 10 round limit on the size of a magazine?

I won't be surprised if all states have a waiting period on a gun purchase and maybe certain ammo. The gun show loop hole will no doubt be addressed.

Considering the gunshow loophole is fiction, regardless of popular belief... I can see mandatory registration across the board and felony restrictions of person-to-person transfers (AKA private sales).

Not taking credit for it, saw it somewhere else.
Tax Credit/refund for buying a gunsafe to secure firearms. |

For Pete's sake, quit wringing your hands and whimpering about what might happen and contact your legislators, donate to the NRA-ILA, take part in the discussion, SOMETHING!
Nothing is going to happen for a couple weeks, and even then passage is far from guaranteed. Make sure your elected officials know where you stand. Some have already started walking back comments after realizing the people still value their rights. Don't quit before things have actually begun. |

I agree with the above. Being part of the discussion/letting our leaders know where we stand is the best thing to do right now. I live in Texas and i can tell you i dont think any of our leaders are on board with a ban with us being so close to the border and cartel passing all through our state and back across on a daily basis. I will also say that all this panic buying every time theres a "ban scare" is showing them (our gov.) that we are scared of what they might do. It should be the other way around.

I agree. It is too early to talk compromise on anything, our side hasn't even had our time at bat yet.
We need to hang tough. Make an emergency contribution to the pro-gun group of your choice (even if you aren't a member), preferably the NRA-ILA since they are the largest and strongest. Contact your senators and congressman NOW and let them know how you feel. |

We've already got a thread on this issue open. Is anyone reading the sticky at the top of this forum? Anybody? 'Cause it's like...right there.
Let's try not to open new threads on this.
