S&W 500 Load recipe inquiry

I am looking for a recipe for 330 Grain Round Nose Flat Point Bevel (lead) using alliant 300-mp powder for my s&w 500 4". Alliant has that weight for 350 gr hollow points at 49 grains. I was thinking about using 40, but I am looking for more experienced people then my self. Round will be used mainly plinking and also possible wilderness protection

Alliants max load for 350gr is 49.0gr.

The starting load would be 44.1gr.

Your bullet is slightly lighter so in terms of pressure your starting load would be slightly higher than 44.1gr.

In terms of over-driving the bullet and potentially causing leading, I can't help you there but I would GUESS that you're not going to exceed max lead speeds with a 4" barrel and starting loads.

Thanks for the input I wasnt sure how the load would work with it being lead and 20gr lighter and the bullet for alliants page was a jhp round.

As I said, I'm not speaking specifically to if the load would be most appropriate for lead, just that the starting load for the Alliant data would be 44.1gr Seems like max loads for lead tend to be right around starting load for jacketed bullets.
*Seems like*, YMMV, not a suggestion, and all that whatnot.
