I found this one laying around the LGS this morning.

Three Ts', pinned barrel and very clean... my conscience made me bring it home!

It has a name as well, the "Combat Magnum". I had a 6" M66 (stainless) and it drove tacks. Just don't beat it up with too many magnums, 38s are fine for the range. Shooting to many hot loads it your "K" frame at paper is like plowing fields with your race horse. It's not a heavy duty 357 but you already know that by the light well balanced feel of it.

The pin runs through the threaded part of the barrel and the treaded hole in the frame to lock it in position when the bullet which is fighting the rifleing trys to twist it. The "T"s I assumme are target sights, trigger and hammer.

S&Ws can sure confuse collectors.

Your new Model 19 has the target trigger, target hammer and target grips, but the inlaid ramp front sight designed primarily for hoster use.

I once had a Model 19 6" like yours although it had the standard trigger and standard hammer, but with the square (Patridge) target front sight. Go figure!

I hope yours shoots as well as my old one did.

Very nice! Obviously not abused. What's the serial number range to date it? The cut out grips are circa 1980-1 or 2. Possible they were added if the gun is older as I expect it is due to it still having a trigger stop - don't see those too often.

You did the right thing bringing it home.

I've got the same thing in Nickel and it's an excellent shooter.

Old S&W guy-terminology... The 3Ts means Target Stocks, Target Trigger, Target Hammer. S&W made both narrow and wide versions of their hammers and triggers, with the wide version intended for target shooters' guns.

Adjustable sights were model-specific (Model 19 = Adjustable, Model 13 = fixed), so they are not normally mentioned as an option, though the red-ramp front was an option at one time.

Thanks folks, someone asked the serial number it is 56K91xx.

Not sure when it was made, but I too was surprised to see the trigger stop.

Beautiful gun you got there nineby.

My first handgun was a 19-4 in blue. I foolishly traded it off for something else years ago. I did eventually replace it with a 19-4 (4") in nickel.
