Skans, I would take a look at Hickok45's video on the DB9 before you purchase one. I don't know where you heard it's reliable -- I see the exact opposite in that video.

I second the LC9 as a decent pocket pistol. The trigger may not be to your liking, but it's a SAFE gun to be carrying, and will get the job done within 7 yards without much issue.

Yeah--I saw one at the range and the guy said it became reliable only after polishing the feed ramp.

I've had and carried a Kahr PM9 since I got my plastic in '04 ... almost always in a pocket (do have a kydex paddle holster for when it's cool) ... no failures since new, probably 1,500 rds through it since I bought it ... it always goes with me to the range, but I generally put just enough rounds through it to ensure it's working and I'm still accurate with it ... the size and the agressive grip texture means it's not really a 100-rd range gun ...

Also enjoy pocket carrying my NAA Pug in .22mag, but only on neighborhood dog walks and around the house ... if we're going to the big city (Austin), the Kahr goes with us ...

I have a 642 and an LC9, carried both in front pocket, neither has missed a lick so far.

First I've heard that the DB9 isn't reliable. I've examined one - I believe the feed ramp comes polished from the factory - at least the one I examined in detail (supposedly new) had a highly polished feed ramp.

I'll have to check further into the DB9. Reliability is important, but I'm not too concerned about having to do some minor work to get a $300 gun completely reliable. I will investigate the info on the DB9 though.

Followup - I didn't get to watch the entire video Hickok45 did on the db9, but the 3 magazines he fired at the start of the video ran flawlessly and he seemed to be hitting targets. I'll have to watch the rest when I have more time.

Pocket Pistola's!

Note: This is my experience...not trying to say it's the gospel or that it will work for you...

My car gun is a .32 ACP Kel Tec P32...which has been 100% reliable since day one. I keep it loaded with Hornady "Zombie Killer" PDX loads in it. Soft shooting. LIGHTWEIGHT!...I can honestly say there are many times I had forgotten it was in my pocket. I can not reccomend this little gun any higher...for me it has been flawless, inexpensive, and well built pocket gun.
($220-ish)

-or-

Sig P238 is a good choice. MUCH heavier and about 3x the cost...but still a great little gun that fits in the pocket very well (or the NEW Colt Mustang...basically same gun).
($500+)

-or-

S&W 6XX series in .38 Special. C'mon..it's a revolver...nothing to go wrong (unelss it's the ammo). I have a 5-shot 637 airweight. Small, light but still comfortable to shoot and accurate. I put the larger Hornady "J" rubberized monkey grip on it (which increased the height a bit) but I can shoot this all day...very comfortable.
($400-ish)

The Bersa, as someone suggested, is a LOT bigger than what I would call a pocket gun. There are literally hundreds of different pocket/mouse guns out there. My wife like her S&W Bodyguard in .380...I don't. I like my .40's when I heav(ier) carry...she doesn't.

That help? I got vids if you want to see the recoil effects..PM me...

I have two reliable handguns that come along when I'm pocket carrying: the Ruger LCP when I need the lightest and most compact pistol (when wearing pants with smallish pockets and/or those without a belt) and a Colt Cobra revolver for all the other times.

Reliable?

My most reliable Pocket gun is my 1908 .25 Colt vest pocket. It is 90 years old and has never had a malfunction since I have owned it. I have shot a lot of different brands of ammo through it and it functions very reliably. After 90 years, I would call that reliable.
But on the other hand I carry a M37 airweight 1 7/8" barrel. Being a revolver it is inherently reliable. Fits nicely in my pocket or IWB.
Later,
gordon

My p-64 has never failed me with closing in on 1k rounds now... mostly cheapo steel case as well.

I pocket carry it in a galco j-frame holster...fits perfect

For me, if it's in the pocket, it's not holstered. It's free style, easy grip, easy draw.

Looks like I'm only the third to say it, but my TCP has been great. No issues of any kind and I agree with a previous post that it feels the best to me.

How would having it "freestyle" be easier to draw? when with a holster you can be sure of its orientation?

I have pocketed Kahr PM9, Keltec P11, Keltec PF9, Ruger LCP, Taurus TCP, Kahr P380, and Sig P938. 1st choice is Sig P938. 2nd would be Kahr P380.

I also find it easier to draw from the pocket without the pocket holster.

My smallest gun was a G27...now it's a G19...

Not too big on mouse guns. O_O may have to suck it up and get one one day. I hate shooting them though..I need a gun shrink... -___- or to shrink my hands maybe? (massive mitts)

Anyways, I heard that the LCP is good? From....people...around...

Obviously if your going to pocket carry absent a corresponding holster, make sure nothing could possibly interact with the trigger or you will be changing your pants for a skirt if you know what I mean . Personally, I would not take the chance...

My personal favorites are the 642 and LCR- both fit beautifully in Uncle Mike's or Mika pocket holsters...100 % reliable for me...

I swap between the Ruger LCR and the Walther PPS; I use a Remora holster for both, and pocket carry them in chinos (the PPS works with the smallest magazine). Never a failure out of either one.
