Texas Training
Hi all. After lurking for a few months, I finally bought my first handgun...and decided to sign up. Obviously, I have plenty of range time ahead of me. Eventually, however, I want to go to some schools to learn more advanced skills. I am in Texas, and I see that Thunder Ranch is in Oregon now....are there any other places in Texas like it?

There are fine outlets in TX. One I personally know well and can swear by is KRTraining at www.krtraining.com in the Austin Area. Karl is a great teacher and offers an entire sequence of training.
There are several outlets in Dallas that seem quite good. Steve Moses works out of that area. I'm sure other folks will add to the list. Many well know trainers frequent different locals in the Dallas, Austin, and Houston areas. Tom Givens, John Farnham, Andy Stanford, Massad Ayoob, SouthNarc, Paul Gonzales, Jeff Gonzales and the Insights crew have been through. The issue has been discussed quite a few times on Glocktalk's Texas and training subforums as well as here. You can't beat Karl for the price and convenience

Houston area
There is a place called TopGun down by the Galleria area. I have not been there, but it looks like it has quite a lot to offer.

Yes, but he asked for one IN Texas. Frontsight is not IN Texas. I can't afford to travel for self defense classes, nor do I have time, as neat as Frontsight looks to be. Like our original poster, if I get to do this at some point, it'll have to be local. Springmom
