Ammo Box

First, how many people use ammo boxes? I was running out of room in my safe so I went out and bought 3 .50 cal boxes and started storing my wolf ammo in them. Will the ammo keep longer in this type of sealed box or is the storage life about the same in my cheap safe?

Thanks

I just keep a bunch of ammo cans filled for the wide eyed looks I get when I'm heading to the range.

I use them for all ammo storage after all that is what they were designed for. I have ammo stored in it over 15 years no problem.

By the way there are locking devices made for securing the ammo cans I bought a few off E-Bay, the locks were a joke but the idea on how to make them was woth the 12 or 13 dollars it was. The lock is not meant to stop a serious attempt, but can help with kids and cops.

I hope they work. I just bought an used Australian military 7.62 narrow model ammo box. Dumped 500 rounds of 9mm inside and found it to be pretty heavy.

I have 12 or 13 ammo boxes, mostly full, and it generally keeps the ammo in good shape. Look for ammo boxes with intact seals around the underside of the lid and no dents along the lid or top edges of the box.

9mm103 - I have a 20mm ammo can full of 9mm. It's heavy enough to need a handtruck to move it.
