C&R Accuracy, show 'em off.

I don't know if we have one of these or not, so I did a search and didn't find anything.

Anyway. Post em or just tell us, what kinda accuracy are you getting out of your ORIGINAL C&R firearms? I've been bitten by the C&R bug hard lately, but I still like to shoot my toys. I'm of the Colonel Townsend school of thought... I find only accurate rifles interesting.

I'm interested mostly in iron sight accuracy. Not necessarily the exact original iron sights issued, as I've thought about ordering a mojosight for my 24/47. Of course, groups from scout scope setups that would at least resemble the rifle era are welcome.

Anyway, post pics or just tell em' (but be honest

). Oh, and pics of the rig that did the deed are nice as well

This morning I popped off a few rounds through my 24/47. I made a homemade rear aperature sight that clamps on to the leaf (not a permenant mod), so I wanted to try it out. After drifting the front sight a smidgen and figuring out the elevation, I banged off a 2" 5 round group @ 100 yards. This is with a surplus rifle, with romanian LB surplus ammo. I'm quiet proud of my little girl

Anyway, here's the rifle...

I have a Turkish Gew88/05/35 that will shoot around 2'' groups at 50yds with my handloads.Its probably the most accurate C&R rifle Ive owned and shoots better than the k31 I used to have.Ill see if I can find one of my targets to post a pic of.In the meantime heres a photo of the rifle. (middle one in the pic)

I've gotten some nice tight groups at 100 and 200 yards from Lee-Enfields, K98s, and 1903 Springfields. Best has been an Arisaka, but only marginally better, and a P17 Winchester. The Mosin-Nagant M91/30s have been OK, not tack drivers, but no matter what you have, it's made for battle, putting a round into a center of mass out to effective range.

The M1 carbines surprise me with their accuracy in rapid fire.

I'm using exclusively original open sights, and no handloads. I can't remember a group larger than 6" no matter how badly I shoot. I'd hate to be up against a decent shooter armed with any one of them.

My Swiss K-31's are by far the most accurate mil-surps I own. Most K-31's run at moa, some better, some worse.

I have about 50 milsurps of various types. My most accurate are
Swiss K31
All my Finnish mosins
#4 Mk I Enfield
Swedish M96
Czech M98/22 Mauser
M1917 Enfield

The above rifles get 1.5 MOA or better.
Generally my milsurps get 3-4 MOA with a couple as bad as 8-10 MOA.

Wish I had pictures, but my M1891/30 does about 1.5MOA. I do 1.4-ish" groups at 100 yards and 3/4" groups at 50 yards. At 25 yards, it's generally a solid hole, so... no bother.

no pics to show, but like another post my Swiss K31 is very accurate, as is my Czech made Persian 98 rifle and the M96 Swede. Have an Israeli IDF mauser in 7.62 that is surprisingly accurate when you consider the condition of its bore. Unfortunately, with my old eyes, they all shoot better than I can with them.

My pretty well used Finn M39 will shoot into 1.5" at 100 meters with a good man on the trigger. That is to say I can do it sometimes, my brother can make it look easy. This is with cheapo czech silver tip stuff. Silver Bear 203 grain soft point shoot as well or better.

Six shots, Swiss rifle at 100 yards. The center bull on our targets is a printed .75" . We print our own targets. First shot nearest the bullseye was a pulled shot and we went downrange to note it before firing the rest.

59/60 on a 11x17" 1/2 size silhouette.

I'd say that is decent enough... although my shoulder hates me today

I'm hoping this new addition to the Enfield pile well shoot as well it did when new. Actually these where only expected to shoot 3moa.

From my Finn capture 91/30 at 50 yards during my first 5 rounds through it with Czech milsurp.

Next trip I brought the hammer and brass punch to get it on point, but did not shoot so nice a target. But it is centered now.

My C&Rs are far more accurate than I am.

I like pictures as much as the next guy, but I can't imagine someone wants to look at a bunch of "holey" targets...

Don't know, it's not an uncommon practice on TFL. With that, I have a 3 round group from 270 yards that astounded me the other day. It was actually right at moa. Step father was looking through the spotter and told me to stop after the 3rd round. After driving down to the target, I saw why

. Let me say that I am aware that this is not the "always" capability of this rifle/ammo combo. I think the rifle COULD shoot this well all the time with some nice hand loads...

2 not x'd on the white, 1 fresh hole in the plywood.

sorry... got lots of rifles, but this winter I added ( my wife thinks too many )

32 & 38 S&W pocket top breaks to my collection...

while shooting this Hopkins & Allen factory Safety Police snubbie through my chrony 2 weeks ago, I shot a 1.5" group at 30ft, through my chrony, off the tailgate of my truck...

this was with .315" Hornady round balls, & light loads of Trailboss powder ( I don't think I own many handguns other than maybe my Ruger G.T.M. 22 that I could shoot groups that size at 30ft, let alone a snubbie double action only...

BTW... just so you don't think it's all about the handgun here... I also just picked up an awesome Berretta 6.5 Carcano, new brass & dies, that I want to play with some this summer... anyone else shooting one of these & loading for it ???
