Lee Auto Index & Federal Primers
Does anyone know of a reason why I can't use Federal primers with Lee 3 and 4 hole turrets with Auto-Index? Found a small note saying to use only CCI and Winchester in my stuff, I think it was from Lee. Don't remeber when I got it or from where.

Been using the P-1000 since 1988, and it came with the warning in the instruction sheet. The wives tale that was going around back then was that Federal had the softest primer cups.
I always used Federals in my guns with spring kits that wouldn't light off a CCI or Win primer back then. But with the number of primers I crushed and loaded SIDEWAYS while learning the P-1000, I just always heeded the warning.

I don't use Federal primers, regardless of what priming tool I'm using. They're too soft for my comfort, especially since the majority of my reloading is for guns with floating firing pins. I stick with CCI.

I prefer CCI too. Just my 2 cents.

They aren't recommended for use in my Load Master unless you install the blast shield. So I did. I've moved on to other brands as the Feds can be hard to find.
