Glock 26... Gen 3 or Gen 4?
Pretty straight forward. I can get both for the same price. I don't see much of a reason to not get the Gen 4 and all of its improvements. The spring assembly didn't seem to change much for the Glock 26. (Perhaps I'm wrong?)
Basically I'm looking for reassurance that the the Gen 4 Glock 26's are squared away. Good or bad, tell me about your experience. |

Gen 4 better IMO, I have Gen 4 19 and 26, the grips are much better, the gen 3 it is slippery for me.

Where are you getting a Gen 4 G26 at the same price of a Gen 3? I'm trying to find a Gen 4 G26 and I'm having a hard time finding a reasonable price on one.

I bought a gen4 G27 a year ago and it is great. No problems and I like the multiple backstraps. I shoot it with the large grip better than my gen3 G23!

I have a Gen 3 G22 and a Gen 4 G27. I much prefer the Gen 4 in terms of ergonomics, fit options of the multiple back strips and grip texture. I also like the trigger better. My Gen 3 trigger makes my finger sore after a 100 rounds where my finger doesn't feel a thing after 250 rounds of shooting the Gen 4..

I’ve had a Gen4 G26 for about six months and put maybe 800 rounds through it with zero issues.

Now a Glock 19 say gen 3 vs gen 4 has more differences - the gen 4 has the dual recoil springs while the Glock 19 gen 3 does not. But that's for the Glock 19, you don't need to worry about that since you're talking about the Glock 26. So for a Glock 26, get the gen 4. It's the same stuff internally but had a few improvements like grip and mag release. If same price get the gen 4 |

Gen4. The larger mag release is much better as is the grip.

If the size of the Gen 3's grip is just fine for you, I say go with whichever grip texture you prefer. But keep in mind that the larger magazine release on the Gen 4 isn't necessarily an improvement. Sure, it's nice that it's easily reversible, but its larger size increases the chance that it will be accidentally pressed when carrying in a soft holster such as a belly band or an ankle holster, effectively turning your Glock into a single-shot.

It's longer and thinner. More stretched out. It's as if its more close to the finger grooves, than it is sticking out on the grip. I'm the king of accidentally engaging the mag release when I'm carrying at 4:00 IWB. I'll post a pic or two in a second comparing the two. I feel it's a major improvement. That's my blue label Glock 17 ImageUploadedByTapatalk1358169875.058938.jpg That's my personal carry Glock 19 4th gen. Its an even spreading rectangle that gets pressure to engage the mag release on the gen 4 then gen 3 is like a button. I'm sure they changed it for a reason. That said though, honestly. One isn't necessarily better than the other for most people. But one definitely is not better than the other in terms of being easier to press. I've maybe done it once on my Glock 21 at 4:00 IWB or with my old Glock 27 that I had. Never happened to me with the G19 SIG Sauer 1911 XO - Custom Springfield MilSpec 1911 - Colt Gold Cup Trophy Model 1911 - Colt 70 Series 1911 - SIG Sauer P220 - SIG Sauer P226 E2 - Browning High-Power blue & stainless - Glock 17 - Glock 19 - Glock 21SF - Glock 22 - S&W Model 19 - H&k USP 40 - Remington Magnum 870 - Rock River AR-15 “Americans can no longer depend upon legislation to defend them from all who intend to do them harm.” |

In the Gen 4 camp
I love my G27 Gen 4 and am currently searching for a 26 for MRS. Vermonter. LGS had me run over for a 26 only to find out that it was a Gen 3. She specifically likes the grip on the Gen 4 as supposed to the 3 so its easy for us. Now to find one.
As for the mag release on the Gen 4 Never an issue here. |
