Otteson says .149". Two of mine run .146" and .147". It really isn't too critical since headspace is set with a pull through reamer anyway.

So a depth of .152 isn't too far out?

I wouldn't say so, but I don't know their tolerances. But see my reply on the real cause of "pierced" primers before worrying about the bolt face depth or headspace.

I put the original strong spring back in it,it helped greatly with factory ammo, just 1 pierced. The handloads I had were bad still, every 3 or 4.

Here is a sketch I made while re barreling.
I would not rely on that sketch for anything other than what I was working on that day.

I had a bunch of Rem700 take off barrels lying around, and they all measured differently.

Well,I loaded up 10 rds for the 17 and shot them.None pierced, yay, but one had a black ring around the outer edge of the primer from a little leakage. No big deal.I loaded these with a starting load of Reloder 15.No pierces but all of them were cratered a little.Probably a few thousandths.Should I just be happy and shoot the darn thing,or should I keep looking for problems?

I've found they vary. What I like to do, is measure the bolt in front of the locking lugs and set the face depth to match the bolt I'm using for the project.
