What is this?

Hi,

A friend of mine ran across this at a garage sale, and I'm not familiar with the purpose. He took a photo and sent it, which I've attached below. Any ideas what it might be/who makes it?

Some additional pics might be helpful. Perhaps one with the handle raised, or a close up of the core part? Are there any markings on it?

My initial thought was that it might be some kind of sizer or swager, but I don't really think that is what it is.

I think it's a MEC shotshell loader.

I'll go along with Pongo. At least part of a MEC.

It looks more like someone modified a MEC shotshell press to do something else.

I agree. How about a home brew bottle capper.

Well, whatever it is, I'm sure I need one immediately. But I might try to find one that is painted blue because I'm sure it will do a much better job. Whatever that job is.

It's a MEC roll-crimper for roll-crimping shells with over-shot wads instead of star-crimping. Don't see many any more, maybe the person you got it from shoots black powder shotshells.
