Which of these 3 ?

I am contemplating my next gun and am seemingly down to three that i'm most interested in.

1- M&P 9 Pro Series (I have the M&P .40 and it's top 2 favorite)
2- CZ 75 b (I've never even shot one, but the reviews and capabilities have me interested).
3- FNX .45 Tactical (again, much the same as the CZ)

keeping in mind this would/could be for a duty/carry weapon at some point in the near future; which would you go with……..and WHY?

I'm just going to put in a word for paying a lot of attention to weight if you're going to be carrying it...

Check the exact models you're looking at but I think they run something like this ballpark unloaded:

FN - 22 oz.
M&P - 26 oz.
CZ - 35 oz.

The CZ75 is great but I wouldn't want to lug one around much... Unless you could find a SP01 Phantom Polymer which runs around 28 oz... That would help, but I think they're kinda rare: (click)

There's also the P07 Duty which runs somewhere around 27 oz.:

Hey thanks for the info.

I agree on wanting to be as light as possible.

While I love the M&P platform, I want to get away from the .40

From what I hear the CZ is a terrible hard gun to obtain as well.

fnx only because you want to carry it. that's a lot of 45 at your disposal.

if it's just a shooter or for home defense, the cz has my vote.

I voted CZ. I've not shot the other two, but have shot a standard M&P. I was assuming that this would be a duty gun, so concealment is less a factor. The weight is an issue, so a CZ compact might be better. However, You sould decide on whether you want a DAO, SAO or a DA/SA gun first. If DA/SA is good for you, then the CZ all the way.

one must wonder how you came down to these three as they all have virtually nothing in common.

if I'm not mistaken the CZ75B is a steel framed 9mm DA/SA design.
the FNX is a polymermer framed 45ACP DA/SA design and
the M&P is a polymer framed 40 cal stiker fired design. none of these weapons are very closely matched to begin with and then all separate are given the murky the water a little.

I would take the FNX over the others but that's almost solely personal preference. no matter the choice you will have a fine duty piece.

True-it's a comparison between apples, potatoes and watermelons. That said, I'd opt for the CZ because it fits my hand best and mine has proven to be completely reliable. On the other hand, I've had little experience with the other two candidates but, from what I know about them, they would probably make excellent choices too.

The CZ P01 would be more in line with the guns listed in the poll.

BTW, do you actually have a choice of duty pistols?

You said "Duty/Carry Weapon"- have you checked with your potential agency to see which one's are (or not) on their approved list?

Me? I have CZ's and had a FNP9 (haven't managed to bring home a M&P yet). If the decision were mine, I honestly think I would carry a CZ75BD over my issued Sig P229. And for the sake of your question- I would go with the CZ (if allowed).

96- I have, they are.

Apples&Oranges- I have all the variations (sa/sa-da/da/striker) already, and am comfortable with either. Can also change out simply by qualifying.

I really want to shoot the CZ and FNX

The slide on the CZ is way too little for me. To grab that when clearing a malfunction, would aggravate me when they're better options for duty.

I voted FNX .45

I voted CZ. I've never had any problems with any CZ.
But if I were open carrying a service-sized pistol, I'd go with either a P99AS or a PPQ.

For Carry I say go with what you know, the S&W M&P series. Otherwise for a collection I always grab something of a different design and learn a new platform.

I voted FNX. I have handled the M&P and FNX and prefer the weight, feel, and controls of the FNX. Something about the CZ doesn't appeal to me. I should give it a fair review though when I get a chance. The FNX is on my short list.

I agree with NYPD. Duty carry, go with a platform that you are already familiar with.

I recently bought a CZ P-07 and I love it! The grip is perfect and I have hands on the larger size, its not too heavy, holds 16 rounds and shoots amazingly. I especially like that it is hammer fired and has a decocker. That was a determining factor when I narrowed down my search to the M&P9 and the P-07. I held both and shot them both and the P-07 came out on top.
