Colorado, North Dakota, Arkansas & Florida Now Honor Iowa

CO, ND, AR and FL have added Iowa to the list of states they honor. There will be a few more. But with Iowa not signing agreements it will limit how many states honor their permit/license. Some states require Signed agreements. WV, NH, MS and others. But they will pick up a few more. ND just added IA today. The others in the last two to three weeks. Iowa has been one of my biggest surprises. I never thought they would go from May Issue very restricted to Honoring all other states and Shall Issue. That was a huge leap. But it shows what can be done.

Sounds like they copied the MO method of reciprocity- if you have one, we'll honor it. However, MO does sign agreements, which gives us wider acceptance.

Missouri is a great state to live in when it comes to Carrying. They are wanting to do everything they can for their Residents. No state has their permit/license honored in more states than Missouri.

But with Iowa not signing agreements
Iowa honors all permits, I was told this at the class I just took.

Look at the iowa firearms coalition web site for laws and such in Iowa.
Not all iowa counties were restictive in issueing permits, just some on the east side of the state, sheriffs there want to control things a bit more than out sheriff does. Now it is a statewide thing and many are getting their Permit to Carry a Weapon.

Iowa does honor all other states permit/licenses but some states will not honor an Iowa permit/license because they will not sign a formal reciprocity agreement. Iowa officials have stated they will not sign any reciprocity permits but will just honor all other states. This only hurts the residents of Iowa as everyone who has a permit/license issued in the United States can carry in Iowa but Iowa residents can't do that in all the other states because they won't sign agreements.

Aw Minn is so due to Iowa not recip when Minn went ccw

I say it should be a nationwide permit, then no problems.

There are states that do honor Iowa. Better re check that map.

Mark, Some states do honor Iowa but there are some that never will because they will not sign agreements. Some states require them. Ohio, Delaware and West Virginia are three. With them not signing agreements the only people they are hurting are their residents.

The Idaho legislature had to enact a specific law to allow the AG to sign reciprocity agreements, just because of this. Before that, the AG had no such authority and CO (among some) had specifically taken us off their list because of that.

Many States still won't recognize our CWP simply because we don't mandate a high enough training regime. In their eyes.
