cleaning
I am trying to find the best way to clean wax build up in 1803 springfield rifles.We have been shooting banks .The wax is not allowing loading.I was thinking hoppe's 9. Or has someone got a home made formula?

Do you mean blanks? Almost any cleaner should cut through wax. Hoppes or whatever.

I'd try Ed's Red to clean any build up.

Hot paraffin oil, heated in a water bath, is great to remove wax. The problem with most gun cleaners and wax is the speed of dissolution, it will eventually dissolve if you cap the barrel, but otherwise the cleaner has evaporated before the was is in solution.

I used to love being able to hit hard at 1000 yards. As I get older I find hitting a mini ram at 200 yards with the 22 oddly more satisfying. |
