Lots of places for 1911 grips, but Brownells is a good place to start. I personally purchased a set of Chip McCormick Rosewood grips and really like them a lot.

esmeralda and thefinergrain were already mentioned. Both make very nice grips.
Another to consider would be Hakan Pek, assuming you want wood. For G-10, it's hard to beat Spegel. |

I picked up these cocobola double diamonds on ebay for 12 bucks. They were made by ITM and are comparable to Ahrend's sold by Brownells for 50.00

Hogue, Craig Spegel, Pacmyer...
I think Guy Hogue & Hogue Grips of Southern CA are tops. They have many firearm contracts & provide custom grips to LE/military units.
Craig Spegel of OR is highly rated. He started the J frame Boot Grip design but also has Hi-Power & 1911a1 grips. www.craigspegel.com I'd look at the CT Lasergrips too.

One opinion on a very subjective matter.
Thes may not look the coolest,or have that fine,old school wood and steel aesthetic... But for about $15 ,try a set of Hogue Rubber slabs.They have a little goose egg palm swell that puts the pistol in my hand the same way each time. It is my grip of choice. |

These Pachmayr's feel nice and look good but my fingers are short and I don't like the added depth the checkered front strap gives.

I recently retired as an E9 from the military after 22 years as a bomb disposal technician. I have had four combat deployments since 2003 and I am highly decorated for my service in Iraq and Afghanistan.
I ordered a set of custom grips from Ed and Lisa Strange, the owners of wickedgrips.com, in January of 2011 for my retirement gun (Colt 1911). I paid $300.00 through PayPal and was told the lead-time would be 9 to 13 months. Additionally, I was told that the grips would be made out of Micarta, they would be OD Green in color, and they would sport the custom artwork that I paid a graphic designer to make. The 1911 was not only special because I was preparing to retire, but was also important because 3 weeks before my first deployment my father died. Then, at the end of my last (4th) deployment, my brother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. I expressed to Ed Strange and Wickedgrips.com (At the time, 14 months into the order) the urgency of getting the grips completed. I am now 23 months into this prepaid agreement and would like to know if anyone has had any RECENT experience with purchasing custom 1911 grips from Ed Strange Lisa Strange Jake Rancourt www.wickedgrips.com?
