Light weight and balanced 357 D. Wesson
The photo is of a 357 Dan Wesson model 15V2 with 15" length barrel, the barrel shroud is made of carbon fiber such that this 15" barrel version has the weight and balance of the same gun with the 4" barrel and original steel shroud pistol. The gun is a pleasure to fire with one hand in 38 special in dual action and 357 in single action. Accuracy is very good with long sight radius. Would like suggestions on a holster carry for the long barrel revolver.
Note gun is balanced on triangular scale in photo thus CG at front of gun frame. Last edited by geo211; January 9, 2013 at 03:21 PM. |

That's pretty interesting, I'd love to try some shots from that.
HOLSTER carry? Better make one yourself. There's nothing out there like it.

Carry it? Seriously, if I wanted to, I'd look into slinging it like a rifle.

I have been a fan of DW revolvers since I bought my first one in 1976. But the only use of a 15" barrel is steel shooting at 200+ yards and no holster is needed.
As for normal revolver use I am sure most guys could shoulder and fire a rifle faster than your revolver and carry it more comfortibly. You say it shoots well?? Whats that mean, What kind of 100 yard groups do you get. 3 to 4 " is very possible with a regular 8" barreled 357 mag. |

I love the amount of inventive stuff people manage to do with what I personally consider one of the most well thought out modern double action revolvers ever made. The Dan Wesson 15-2 is a gunsmithless gun. All of the lock work (with the exception of the hand) can interchange with any other 15-2. The barrel is user replaceable...in under 2 minutes with practice -- even the method used to severe the barrel at the front and the rear is genius. The cylinder latch is on the crane, and. Forget why, but it's there on purpose to make the gun able to have a tighter cylinder gap or something. The grip frame is a stud, so any imaginable grip profile can be fitted to the gun. Heck, some DWs even came with a belt buckle! It's too bad the model 15-2 just never got the respect I deserves.
Sorry, I'm really into Dan Wesson revolvers lately, sometimes I get a little crazy. |
