Does anyone have experience with the 55gr. 30-06? I'm not sure of the twist on my barrel, but would it take a fast twisting barrel to stabilize the projectile. I saw this listed on Remingington's web site.

Those are likely Sabot loads.

Twist rate for stabilization depends on the length of the bullet. A shorter bullet requires less twist (a higher number) than a longer bullet.

i.e., a 1/14" .22 barrel will stabilize up through about 55 grains, but anything larger/longer will tumble. To stabilize the very long tracer rounds or 80 grain target rounds, it takes a 1/8" or 1/7" twist (the 62 grain rounds should be okay in 1/9" or 1/10", right?). The tracer rounds are the real reason behind the 1/7" spec for the M-16 rifles...
