M-27 date of manufacture and presentation box question

I recently aquired a S&W 27-2 6" with a serial number of N445XXX. Could one of you with the S&W book tell me when this piece was made?

I purchased it with a wood presentation case that had all of the cleaning stuff and original paperwork. What's the story on the wood presentation case? Were these standard or purchased separately? Thanks for the help.

1978. Presentation boxes have been used at various times and were an accessory that you could buy.
