Is it worth it?

I came across a guy selling a Mossberg Maverick. He said he bought it 8 months ago. About 100 rounds through it trap shooting. I have seen pictures and it looks pretty decent. He is asking 150 for it.

I have heard very very few things about the Maverick. Some good. Some bad. Im looking for more input on how these are for a shotgun. Thanks

I just bought a new one at my local Big 5 on sale for $200 so $150 would be about right for a lightly used one.

I'd offer $130 cash in hand, you can always give him the $150, I would want to pay as littke as possible if I wanted it (like a snowball in hell).

Maverick, a Mossberg variant with most parts interchangeable and a TG safety.

Well worth $150, but offer $125 cash in hand...

They are almost identical to the Mossberg 500 but with a few cheaper parts. They aren't a gun that you want to use at the skeet range shooting thousands of rounds a year. But, for an average Joe that wants a decent pump gun they are fine.

The Maverick is a reliable shotgun. Price sounds good too.

Just as reliable as the 500. Cheap enough to do a custom paint job on yourself. Takes all Mossberg accessories and the standard short Invector or Accu choke tubes. My brother made one into a nice turkey blaster last year. You can also add the .50 cal. muzzle loader barrel for just a little over $100 direct from Mossberg's site. Now that's a bargain.

The Mossberg Maverick 88 was my first shotgun. I've added few additions to it later on.

I got mine new about a year ago at Wmart for $177. Got an 18 inch HD barrel to go along with the 28 inch it came with. It does double-duty in the house and on my local trap range. Hundreds of trouble-free rounds down range with it.
Love it....get it.
