45 ACP barrel

Can anyone tell me the aproximate height of the Land in a 45. OR how do you tell if a barrel is worn out? I am new to the 45 caliber!
I just aquired a P90, It look like its knew, except for the barrel which was very copper fouled.
After many many cleanings, I got most of the copper out but the differance between the lands and grove is not much. BTW The pistol shoots very accurately.

Thanks,
Tony

Information like that Ruger shares only with firearms examiners. The only other way to get it is to measure it.

The difference in the land and groove diameters of a 1911 barrel is small. However, I don't have the dimensions.

Standard M1911A1 barrel specs are

Land diameter .441 +/- .003
Groove diameter .449 +/-003
Rifling twist, Left, 1 turn in 16"

The lands are thus .008 smaller in diameter, which means each land is .004 high. This is pretty much a standard land height (or groove depth, which is the same thing) for jacketed bullets. For example, the .30-'06 and .308 have a bore of .300 and a groove of .308, or .004 groove depth.

Tony,
If it's holding the shots in the 10 ring, don't worry about the lands & groves. When it starts to "open up" the groups, then start thinking about a new barrel.
