Springfield makes some great firearms but I've always been partial to Glocks when it comes to something I will use in a defensive situation. They aren't the prettiest gun out there but out of the thousands of rounds I've put through Glocks I've never had a single issue. Part of that may be luck but I haven't heard many issues from others either when it comes to the Glocks.

I bought a XD9 several years ago and it has become my bedside gun and often is in my car. Don't often carry it as I prefer a smaller CC gun that usually is LCR or NAA .22mag or both. In winter, my carry is S&W model 696 in 44 spec. Love the XD9 as it fits my hand and shoots very well but prefer something else to carry concealed.

AK71,i say go with the XD 357sig(yes i'm a little biased, see sig line), you already have a XD 9, the 357sig offers more power in the same size package, albeit less rounds in the mag, and don't get to hung up on the fact it only has the grip safety, IMHO that is kind of a blessing cuz that one less thing you have to think about if your in a SD situation.
