And speaking of shortages, I'm sure you've heard about the current occupant of the White House and the batfe wanting to reclassify 5.56 ammo as armor piercing and that manufacturing, selling or owning would be illegal. Two normally reliable news sources (Fox and that "low information voter" dude), yesterday, reported this in a manner that made some think all 5.56 ammo would be banned. I guess this explains the lack of 5.56 ammo on the shelves at my local Cabela's store. There was no lack of people looking for it.

Yep, here we go again.
At the LGS, I was picking up some pistol powder since they had just received a shipment. While there, I figured I'd pick up some rifle powder. All gone! Owner said the .223 stuff has been flying off the shelves since the announcement. |

I 'collected' a decent variety within last month:
2 lb Alliant Bullseye 4 lb Alliant Power Pistol 1 lb Accurate #9 3 lb Hodgdon Longshot 3 lb Hodgdon Titegroup 2 lb Hodgdon HS 6 2 lb Hodgdon 800X 3 lb Hodgdon Lil'Gun 2 lb Hodgdon H110 It was a lot of work in research and it's definitely a sellers market. There seems to be at least a $5 per pound premium on most offers. I will buy some more AA #5, #7 and #9 and I'll be complete. Will refill when I find some at better prices but keep my stock around 20 lbs no matter what. |
