Win Defender rails locked
I have a Winchester 1300 Defender. I am trying to install a new forearm and a larger capacity magazine. The task seemed pretty straight forward until the rails and bolt shot out of the gun and locked tight. Any idea on how I get the rails back where they belong, without taking the whole gun apart? Or am I going to have to remove the trigger guard group now?
thanks |

Remove the trigger assembly is what I would do........just one pin holding it in.
At most a two minute job? I use to completely take apart the action/bolt/barrel Assemblies on my kids M1200 to give a good cleaning and the whole process took less then fifteen minutes. *A Winchester 1200/1300 are pretty simple to work on/clean, as easy as my Wingmaster. |

Thanks for the reply, I guess I will do that.
Can I use a normal steel punch to knock the pin out, or do I need a special kind of punch to avoid marring the finish.... or is there a trick to this? |

I use a steel punch to lightly drift the pin out. No springs etc... will go flying across the room when you do this so dont worry!
You should be able to find a manual on the net somewhere... |
