does anyone have a good link, some good advice or something else that might point me in the right direction?
it cost too much for me to wing it.

There are hundreds on Youtube.

Just search for AR-15 Disassembly.

It is really pretty straight forward. The only thing I have found that is easier is the AK.

Make sure the bolt is forward and the hammer is cocked(it is if you can engage the safety). Push the pins from left to right and it comes apart. It can't get much simpler.

How To Clean & Lubricate Your AR 15 For A Beginner Video Link

^Check out the video I made for beginners above. It's a step by step tutorial aimed at new AR owners. Let me know if you have questions afterward and myself or someone else here will square you away.
