Where can I get info on the Star Model B Pistol?
Where can I get info on the Star Model B Pistol?
I checked one out at a shop and am very intrigued. Looked exactly like a 9mm 1911 to me but seemed better suited for CCW. I honestly don't know a thing about these. I belive Star is out of business? What is the quality of these guns and what is the status of spare mags and parts? I really want to learn as much as I can about this interesting pistol. Thanks in Advance. |

OR THIS http://milsurpshooter.net/search/tex...t=Search+Forum And a video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMdwZr40ajg The "B" model is as large as a service model 1911, but a little thinner being a 9MM. Most around are military surplus. Mine is actually WWII vintage with Nazi proof marks. Good shooters at the range, but I wouldn't compare it with some of the more modern CCW firearms. Are you sure the gun you were looking at was a "B", not the more compact "BM" model?

Umm, yeah, you would probably want to ensure that Star was a Super B and not a B Model. It's my unnerstanding that the B Model chambers the 9mm Largo Ctg while my Super B was chambered for the much more common 9mm Parabellum. The Star BM was also chambered for the more abundant 9mm Para.
They are great firearms and I was always impressed with the technology of their design, machining, fit and finish for mass produced firearms of 1940's+ Spain. I don't know about parts- but they are common enough that they CAN be found. Don't worry too much over parts- I used to be a part worrier too, but then I realized that so many of my firearms didn't require a steady diet of replacement parts. Quality firearms will outlast you.

Here's one of the best bulletin boards on the Star and Spanish pistol line on the net. Read this thread before proceeding. It is full of very helpful Star owners.
