Browning 1911 380
Does anyone have one? Reviews sound good, a little pricey. I'd like to hear actual owners impressions. Thanks.

I held one at Sportsmans Warehouse. $500. Seemed well made fit and finish wise. Obviously i didn't shoot it though.

If I've read the early articles about it correctly, it has a polymer (a generic term) frame -- they call it "black composite" on their website -- not steel or alloy. If that's correct (it may not be), I'm surprised that more folks aren't screaming!! (Doesn't make a difference, to me...)

"The frame is an engineering-grade composite that makes this pistol super light, almost as light as it’s .22-caliber cousin. The exact formula of this plastic has been kept secret from us, but it holds everything together securely."
That's from this article: http://www.gunsandammo.com/first-loo...ng-1911-380-2/ http://www.browning.com/products/int...arms/1911-380/

When i held the Browning I had not noticed the polymer frame. It wasn't until later that evening I read in the article that it had polymer frame. Weight and balance wise if felt fine in my hands. Admittedly I have smaller hands.

I bought one today, I hope to have it out shooting tomorrow. It will be the wife's pistol not mine. She has very small hands and it fits her hand very well. The sights are a little on the dark side (all black). I still have to clean it before we go but the better half seems to like it.

1911-380
It appears that we have purchased the first 1911-380 available in OKc. My wife has the 1911-22, which fits her hand perfectly, so it goes without saying, she was in line for the 1911-380. We got the call on April Fool's Day (4/1/15), and of course we thought it was the dealer playing the joke, but after the laughing stopped, was convinced it was actually here. It took us about twenty minutes, to get to the range/dealer, taking the strain on the credit card, and taking possesion of the 380. A couple of boxes of Winchester 380s and to the firing line we went. My wife has found her gun!! It performed flawlessly, not one FTF/FTE...in 100 rounds. Yesterday, we ran another 100 rounds of handloaded 100grn...50 unique 50 bulleye...again 100%....Did a tiny drift of rear sight...now is shooting dead on. Wife usually shoots full size 1911-45...but this Browning is soooooooo much more pleasant to conceal and carry....has found its home in her concealed carry purse. Yes...we know its not a 45...or even a 9mm...but it is 8 in the mag...and wife can shoot it to point of aim....so best not be a target.
Going to be a keeper.....good luck in finding one!! |

Took it to the range today. Shoots well, sights are on target. We had no problems with this firearm today. My wife has a new favorite pistol. It fits her smaller hands well and has very manageable recoil. Now I will start looking for wear on the pistol but so far so good.

I keep waiting for mine. Seems like it has been on order forever. Actually, I ordered it the day I found out about it.

On the Internet I read a couple of good reviews as well as a couple of bad ones (not feeding flat-nosed profile bullets and loose fit). But because I love the 380ACP cartridge and because I love slim guns, I took the plunge and ordered one. I should have it in a few days, and hope that it performs as well as the two posts I read above.
