Remington brass 7.62x39
Okay, a little back story. I started picking up brass 7.62x39 cases at the range looking for some I can reload. So far I have a grand total of four... Anyway, here is the question - I have four remington cases, same head stamp but two are small rifle and two are large rifle primer. Can anyone tell what 7.62x39 is supposed to be and why the same manufacturer is using two different primers?
Thanks, Marineinthewoods |

it should have a large rifle primer....you sure that the two bigger ones aren't flattened from high pressure...and creating an illusion????? and the smaller ones actual large rifle primers???

Positive, two are small, two are large. I decapped them and went to clean the primer pocket when I spotted it. I have a good picture of them but can't for the life of me figure out how to post it.

No optical illusion. I have a couple hundred Remington cases with small rifle primer pockets.

Remington made 7.62x39 brass cases with Small primer pockets for years. Everyone else uses the Large primer pocket in their 7.62x39 brass.
A few years ago Remington switched over to the more common Large Primer pockets. |
