Buying AR mags now is silly. They are in the stores around here and certainly on the Internet.
True! I was at a local dealer last week and saw a couple of guys acting like they had discovered gold and were happy to pay their double pre panic prices.

Because there's no guarantee we won't experience this again, I'm still buying a couple of mags here and there, but haven't had a problem finding them at the old prices.

If anybody is still looking for a source, Midway has a ton of mags in stock:

Freedom Munitions Has Ammo!

Just thought I'd pass this along. Freedom Munitions has ammo in stock. 9mm, .40, and .45 as of a few moments ago. Seems you can only buy it in 500 round batches, and it will take a few weeks to ship, but the prices seem decent. I just got in for some .45 so you folks can have at it.

http://www.freedommunitions.com/category-s/53970.htm

Also, this is my first time buying through them. I've read good things so far, any comments on their quality?

200 bucks for 9mm 115 fmj for 500 reloads delivered is still high in my book. They can keep it.

Not much more for "new" at 210.00 delivered. Delivery would run me 20 bucks but that depends where your located. I'll still pass. Prices will drop.

I'm paying 24.00 a box of 100 Winchester white box at Walmart. That's new ammo tax included.

I have noticed the new norm for PMags seems to be about $20 whereas Pre-panic I could get them for as low as $12.99

Freedoms Pre panic prices were pretty good, their reload 9mm was 180/1000

If you want to buy from them you need to click on the ammo you want and select notify me. Sells out quickly

The prices for the mags at the store I was at was very good, 2 for 24.99, it's a good deal, but do you really need "that many" right now.

I guess he might need that many. Why didn't you ask..."hey why do you need that many?" I could imagine the answer any normal guy would have gave you. I know the answer you would have got from me.

Maybe the guy was buying for some friends also. I bought 30 or so a few years ago,10 for me and 10 for a few of my shooting friends. When we go shooting we load our mags before we go the night before.
That's government attitude.....what do you need with that?....
Not that it's any ones business.

It's not that I need that many mags, but after this last round of political terror, I'd rather feel like I'm better prepared going forward. As things become available at normalized prices, I'll accumulate them. I wish I'd had that attitude with ammo before the ammo drought, but apparently I didn't learn anything from the previous drought. I'm not going to hoard a monster stockpile from this point, but I'm not going to live hand-to-mouth again.

A really cool thing about our shooting sport is that almost nothing stored with care is perishable. And because the price always goes up over time, your personal inventory is a hedge on inflation, providing you purchased it at fair market value during normal conditions. If your needs or plans change, it's easy to sell or barter with. You can't say that about boats, ATVs and tennis rackets, where their value is always headed to zero the minute you own it. Come to think of it, compared to other things, your guns, ammo, mags, etc., are actually an asset class. They've definitely outperformed savings accounts, real estate and CDs these last few years! Hmmm, maybe I should go for the monster stockpile

Hey, another half dozen mags... what's the harm? If I wasn't buying mags, I'd probably spend half my money on bourbon and blackjack, and then just waste the rest of it.

Did a drive-by of two local places this afternoon. Rayco Armory in Merchantville - he didn't have much but had some Federal 45 auto @ $41/box 50.
Lawmen's Supply had some .40, 380, .223 and 45 - I grabbed 2 boxes @ $24/box 50. Neither place had .22 and didn't know when it's coming.

Maybe coming back????!!

I can't decide on weither ammo is coming back or not. I still can't find .223 and everytime that I go to look at Walmart the case is completely empty. I don't know if it will change anytime soon now that the act didn't pass in Congress. We will see won't we!!

I have had trouble finding 900 and 22LR forever. 223 I can get any day of the week and twice on Sunday here.

Today I went to a different range with outdoor and indoor and they had 9mm.
Also found 9mm at my LGS that hasn't had it for weeks. Was 19 dollars and some change. I passed on it and found some at Walmart. 46 and some change for three boxes of 50.

I also ordered some 9mm dies, found small pistol primers and everything else needed for reloading.

It is almost there, give it a few more weeks

I just have to comment on people saying it was stupid to buy mag during the panic.

You wouldn't be saying it was stupid if the mag band past in congress or in your state.

Hope for the best. Prepare for the worst. It's the American way.

Boomer

P.S. cabela's in Springfield OR is well stocked with ammo. 22LR not included. Still no primers though.

Bass Pro in CB had plenty of .45acp 100 packs WWB, along with some WWB 5.56mm.

Cabela's in Omaha had primers.. Remington LR, Remingon SR, Win SP, and I think Win LR or SR.. Also had a small mountain of Herter's 5.56mm, and a bunch of WWB 7.62X51 Nato, and a small selection of powder.

Guns unlimited in Omaha had Federal/LC M855 300 round cases, and WCC 5.56mm 55 gr FMJ by the 1000 round case.. like half a pallet of them. They also had cases of WSR primers and cases of 7.62x39mm.

Much much improved from last time I went out, which was only a couple weeks ago.

The "Where is everything?" thread -- guns, ammo, primers, powder, etc.

Was at buds today in Lexington and they had everything in stock. They've also jumped firmly on the gouging bandwagon. Bulk packs of 500 22's for $50. 10 cents a round isn't too bad until you realize couple months ago they were 3 cents. Looked at everything ( guns, ammo & accessories) in the store and walked out with nothing.

The "Where is everything?" thread -- guns, ammo, primers, powder, etc.

Academy in Baton Rouge had some ammo. One box per caliber. They had just about everything. 20 rounds of .223 55gr for $4.99. 124 gr 9mm FMJ for $15.99. I also BOUGHT .410 of which they had plenty. 38s where not limited but it was $17.99 for 50 rounds of FMJ I passed.

But anyway:

All shortage posts are now supposed to go in the single shortage thread in the general forum. I will merge this thread in over there.

WalMart had a bunch of PPU .223 today.

FMJBT 55 grain.

Selling at under $8 per 20 round box.

Still a three-box limit. I'm sure it will be gone in a few hours.

They said they got some .22 LR (don't know what kind) in and it was gone in hours.

Good Day from the Big Brown Truck (UPS). I received a set of .45 Colt reloading dies and a hundred each fifty count plastic ammunition boxes (50 boxes for .380./9mm and 50 boxes for .45 ACP/10mm). Dies came from Midway and the plastic boxes came from Berry's.
