I figure this would be the best place to ask.
Is there a set standard for brass expansion? How do you know if your chambers are oversized and your brass is expanding too much? With factory ammo, I've found that my .40S&W (Walther P99) expand (bulge) out on average .012" at the widest. My .45ACP (Sig P220) expand out on average .008". Is this normal? How much is too much? Thanks! -Red- |

My Ruger p944 brass expanded about .005", My Beretta 96's are about .006-.007". I have seen S&W Sigmas from the local PD that expanded .012-.014", and a Glock 23 that went up about .017". Hope that helps some.
