Question after reading thread regarding Accidental Discharge
Just completed reading the thread "Have you ever had an accidental discharge". As a new shooter, that is a great thread. It should be required reading.
In one post, the poster indicated that he had had a cookoff. Then other people started saying that it was a cookoff, not a hangfire. What is a cookoff and what is a hangfire? |

Unless you have a full-auto, closed-bolt gun, you will likely never see a cook-off. Hang-fires are very rare as well.

unless you are shooting 8 mm lebel on MG strips
or jap 7.7 on strips. |

I've been shooting on aregular basis since 1973, never experienced either. Squibs, yes, from poorly loaded reloads (my fault)
