Johnny Guest
Would it be wise to modify or delete post #20 so nobody unkowingly loads a 308 case with a 30-06 recipe? I know these loads are not the responsibility of the forum but since the loads listed are not for the correct caliber it seems a smart thing to make them go away. |

A good suggestion
Caballero, you are correct. I've inserted a note in that post.
Thanks for the suggestion. Johnny WA: I hope you'll give us a chance to see your transitional Colt. Could you post images and information in Handguns: Autoloaders? Unless, of course, you want to put it into the FOR SALE section. JPG |

I just had an incident.... I made up some loads with some Federal GM Match cases on their 2nd loading. The load procedure was as follows: First tumble for cleaning; Lube, resize in a set of RCBS small base dies Second tumbling for cleaning and polish Trimmed to 2.000 case length; chamferred and deburred. (First trimming) Charge was 45.0 of Hodgdon BL(C)-2 (Online manual lists 47.5 as max) Seated 168 grain MatchKings to a COL of 2.800. Decent rounds, perhaps? NOT BLOODY LIKELY!!! This load blew primers in Federal brass, and pushed the ejector in the bolt of my Savage 10FP in so hard that the bolt is at a gunsmith's right now. One week later, I tried the same load in Remington and Winchester cases; no problems!!!! Once again, be CAREFUL with Federal brass! |
