HRTRS Brass: Crushing Primers
Hey everyone;
I have a buddy who has started loading some 40 S&W range pick up brass. He has run into a problem seating primers with HRTRS brass. It is crushing the primers, almost like the pocket is too small..? Any ideas? He is using Federal Small Pistol Match Primers. He is using an RCBS Hand Primer. |

Crimped primer pockets. To make the problem stop he would need to remove the crimp. Lyman makes a hand tool for the job. RCBS makes a die for swagging the primer pocket. Either way the only way to load them is to remove the crimp, or switch to brass that is not crimped.

I was not aware that certain types of 40 S&W had crimped primer pockets?
If this is the case, I guess that may be the solution! |
