Norinco MAK 90

I have a Norinco MAK 90 in 5.56. I cannot find any mags for it. Any ideas?

Norinco Mak-90 in .223 mags would be tough to find. But I think you could make a slight modification using a file to a Bulgarian .223 magazine. IMO with a little modification, a Bulgarian .223 will fit your Mak-90.

I have 2 for sale, $100 each. They are norinco 84s magazines, but I have heard they will work for the 5.56 mak 90. You may want to verify.

How frustrating. I can't find any factual info on this subject anywhere. So I guess i'll wait to buy a factory over priced mag on gunbroker. Does anyone know if the stocks are interchangable with AK74's or 47's?

The mag well demensions are not the same. Some polytech and Norinco wont even interchange. There was a standard for the 7.62 ak mags and the 5.45, but with the 5.56, everyone kind of just did there own thing. Kind of like the ar-15 ar-10 thing here.

You can probably find out lots of info over on one of the AK forums. The PolyTech .223 mags will probably work fine and I'm sure one of these forums will help you out with the info you need...
The AK Forum
The AK Files

The stocks are somewhat interchangeable with other AK's. This depends on your receiver type. A slant cut receiver is not as compatible as are the straight cut receivers. It also depends on what type material you want for your stock, wood or synthetic. A place called Iron Wood Designs makes wood stocks for all sorts of AK's out of many different types of wood. Check them out.

blfuller turned you on to the best AK forums out there.
Polytech and Norinco in 5.56 are not interchangeable.
I have heard that the Polish Beryl Archer magazines
will work in the 84s. Good luck in your quest.

Norinco has unique stock fit needs.

Also some are slanted and some straight on the back of the receiver.
Other stocks can be made to fit but takes some wood work (not sure on synthetic but suspect the same)

I think Ironwood is one of the few that makes a wooden conversion stock for the MAK 90 though you do have to tell them what the cut is on the the badk.

If you do change stocks keep in mind that you need to have 5 US made parts in or on the gun to make legal.

Easiest is to swap the stock and then get a US made magazine (if you can) so use as a magazine lists as 3 legal parts (gets you up to 6 ad standard AK stock is only 3 as well, the upper hand guard does not count.

Other internal parts are available but they add nothing to the MAK as it came with a chrome bolt and the best trigger you can get on an AK
