Wow nice gun. I've always wanted a pre lock one but that gun is awesome regardless. I should buy myself something from performance center.
Yours also has the great 5 in barrel length.

That is sure a futuristic looking revolver.
Somehow, the location of the cylinder flutes just doesn't seem right to me on those eight shot guns! Bob Wright |

8 shots of .357 Magnum! That's a lot of chances to dissuade someone.
That cylinder does look a little odd, though. The barrel comes back a half inch or more into the cylinder window. I think it looks better when the cylinder and the window are the same size. |

Looks less than a 1/4 inch to me. Jim |

I have the same model. Its a real tack driver and even in double action the trigger pull is nice. It turns heads at the range whenever I pull it out of the bag. Everybody who shoots it gets this funny crooked smile though. Wonder why?

"She shoots as good as she looks!"
Uhm... ok.... 80 foot groups at 1 yard, then? The only thing I can think is that with that profile the engineers who were doing hash under glass and designing it thought it would be a great idea to merge the looks of the Mauser HSc with a revolver. And what in the name of all that is holy is with the logo on the side of the... barrel? It's almost the start of something Tolkienish... Three rounds for the PPC shooters under the sky, Seven for the IPSC men in their halls of stone, Nine for nasty bandits doomed to die, and so forth and so on... This new age of revolver design is simply not compatible with my very traditional outlook.... Oh well, lots and lots of old Smith & Wessons for me!

Don't care - still love my 627PC - and it shoots great I have lots of older guns, love them too. My oldest rifle is 1898 and oldest revolver 1908, but i try never trash somebody else's opinion on looks, its like telling them their children are ugly and that is usually not well received |

Not intended to be a buzz kill at all, nor am I trashing someone else's opinion. I'm sharing MY opinion on the state of firearms design these days.
Why should my decided negative views serve to detract from the good feelings that others have? I'd have to say that, if my negative views on the design bring someone else down, how secure were their views to begin with? I'd have to say not very if my views have that much influence over their perceptions.

Congrats on a very fine revolver. The Performance Center guns are some of the best production revolvers currently made. I have the exact same gun, just a little earlier version. They came in very nice aluminum cases with a huge S&W embossed logo on the top and combination lock mechanisms. They are very fast and slick guns. If you want to go even faster, put a reflex sight on it. It's really not fair how fast and accurate you'll be. JPoint makes a sight mount that fits the I letting for the factory rear sight of the gun. You can add the JPoint red dot optic or JPoint also makes an adapter so you can use the JPoint mount for a Docter optic, which is what I did.

I keep lookin' at the picture of you gun and have to ask, is the cylinder polished brighter than the rest of the gun?
As I look it seems the gun is sort of matt finished with the cylinder brighter. Or is it just the camera angle/lighting? Many years ago a friend of mine had an AMT Hardballer with contrasting matt/polished surfaces, sort of grew on me. Bob Wright |

In all seriousness,,,
When I was putting together the Harem,,,
I tried to find a S&W L-Frame with a half-lug barrel,,, I ended up getting a full lug 686 but I did consider one of those guns. We all know that tapered lug was a monetary (cheaper to manufacture) decision,,, But it does give a full lug look while retaining the balance of a half-lug. Not my cup of tea,,, But I don't hate then either. I would like to make a barbecue holster for one of them puppies. Aarond .

I have grown to like the tapered lug, but it was a semi-acquired taste.
I found the tapered lug to give the 5" a really nice balance in the hand, and it doesn't sacrifice anything in the "recoil absorption" and "time to reacquire the target" categories when shooting full-house magnum loads. (LOL 38sp is practically a non-event in this gun) Some love it, some hate it. I fall into the love it category. I figure most would fall into the love it category once they have shot it. The only other revolver that comes close is my well broken in 6" 19-4 with the silky trigger. At the private range where I shoot, we have a tradition of everybody being welcome to shoot everybody else's toys. I receive more requests for bringing out the 627 performance center than just about anything else in my collection. You are gonna love it. PS - that tradition of shooting other people's toys is why my bank account is not what it should be - i fall in love waaaayyyy too often |
