44 mag load request

I've got some 220 gr Sierra flatpoints I'm about to start experimenting with. I can't find any load in any of the manuals I've got, but the chart with the dies gives a starting load of 18.8 gr of 2400 for a 225gr jacketed bullet.

I've been looking over the internet and can't find much either, one fellow suggested 19.5gr 2400 as the starting, 1.600" oal.

Any suggestions? I'm leaning towards something between 19 and 19.5

Ammo guide says 19grs for a 225 barnes but nothing for a 220. I would start at 18 and work up till you get what you want.

20.9 to 24.7 grains 2400 with the 220 grain fpj.

Aliant gives a max of 21.4 and the Speer edition gives a max of 23.2 for 225 GR. I have looked in my Sierra manual which is an old second edition but they don’t list a 220 GR they only list a 180 and 240.
I load a lot of 44 mag with 2400 for rifles and 8 inch pistols and I have never been anywhere near the max levels the manuals suggest. For my Rifles with a 225 bullet about where Roughhedg suggested worked best.
Check out the alliant manual on line and go with their documented as max.

You can also go to Alliant question page and they will be able to give you a very accurate min max charge level for the bullet you are using.
