Elk hide ideas

Help me fellow hunters. The elk I shot this year had nice hide so I took it to the taxidermist and had it tanned. So now I have a 30 square foot hide and am not sure what to do with it. We don't have room on a wall really. The taxidernist told me that elk hair is hollow and will break so across a couch is out. It's about 8" long and 4 to 5"wide. We have some great minds here so give me some good ideas, cause I am at a loss. Took a deer hide once and had some nice gloves made but this is the first large hide I have ever had done. Now what do I do with it.

Shoulda thoughta that before huh?

I have two buckskins draping the headboard. *shrug* Or it could be a nice throw for the foot of the bed. Having hair-on makes things a little difficult--I usually scrape all mine so I don't have to worry about it.

Aha! I've got it! Have it made into a new headliner and dash cover for your hunting truck!

Use it to cover the mirror ya put above the bed you bought on impulse 20 years ago. It only seemed like a good idear at the time.

I might make a photo album covers and stuff it with hunting picts and give the others to family and hunting friends.

Send it out to have it made into gloves or a coat. Or send it to me and I will.

Congradulations! You now have the hair with which to tie lots, and lots, of elk-hair caddis flies! .... elk hair has a lot of uses in fly tying. Surely you know a fly tier with whom you can swap for something else? Better still, start tying yourself. Lotsa fun.

If the hide was big enough you could make me some Mukluks.

Plastic worms are for degenerates who fantasize about sex with chickens. (Lure the chicken within reach). Bass??? Black bass?? I don't need no stinkin' largemouth bass! The STRIPED BASS season opens in NY on 4/15, and I'm'a busy tyin' sandeels and spearing patterns ... heh heh heh

Turn it into about 25 native american archery quivers and sell them for 40 bucks apiece on ebay.
Search ebay under archery and quiver.

Get it wet and cut it into rawhide dog chews. Make some nice lampshades. Make some nice chaps that the hair will all fall off of.

Or, get rid of the hair and make some nice buckskin clothing.
