I have no clue as to the story behind this lion, it is just some pictures I received in an e-mail I thought were cool.

Ligers don't live in the wild. That's a cougar aka puma aka mountain lion and a very large male on at that, looks to be pushing 200lbs. If he shot it on foot, that's ok-but if it was shot using a team of dogs that's no good. Most cougar hunts involve a pack of dogs that tree the cat, then the big bad hunter shoots it out of the tree. I don't advocate the hunting of predatory animals at all, but to each his own.

Not everyone uses dogs to hunt mountain lions. My friend tracks and stalks them on foot, and he's pretty darn good at it.

That's a nice cat, too.

after hunting Mountain Goats, Dall Sheep and alot of other animals the Lion hunt was by far the hardest damn thing I ever did. Started at first light and chased those dogs all over...and up and down the Rocky mountains on foot only to stop to take a drink of water or in my case to :barf: !!!

It was all I could do to put the gun to my shoulder to shoot as I was so tired as we chased it untill almost dark. BTW...it killed 1 of the dogs and tried his best to kill another. Sure all cat hunts dont play out this way but I like to point out sometimes there can be a little more to a hunt then a guy might think...Doug

my cougar went 190 and missed Boone and Crockett by 1/16 of an inch and looked nothing like that cat in the pics...my guess is the pictures are photoshopped!! Doug

the first picture looks as if he is kneeling way behind the cat too make it look larger...if its real it is a dandy for sure...Doug

WOW!! I postd before the pics were viewable, so that's why I guessed he was referring to a Liger; I know pumas, cougars, and mountain lions well enough to know those three are all interchangable names

THAT'S AWESOME!! CONGRATS, NICE TROPHY!!! Sounds like a heck of a hunt, too!

Ever catch nice fish then when your picture was taken hold it out at arms length for the picture? Makes the fish look larger than it really is. That first picture looks that way to me. But still a nice trophy, wish I had one near as nice.

I see nothing wrong hunting with dogs.

A guy named Brian Williams killed a 240 pound lion in southwestern CO a couple years ago and it was close to the same size from the pictures. I knew Brian years ago and he is the real deal, the cat was real, and so were the pictures in the magazines.

That is a big lion, for sure.

That cat is every bit of 200lbs +. Look at the size of the shoulders. Nice cat.
