PLEASE HELP ME Yugo Mauser 24 47 bolt problem
My recently purchased (and adored) Mauser's Bolt is completely locked up. I was in the process of taking it apart to clean and I forgot to flip the safety catch to the middle/vertical position, instead I unintentionally left it in the full left/fire position. I then pushed in the spring loaded plunger and rotated the rear portion of the bolt counterclockwise about 1/4 of a turn and presto...instant bolt lockup. Still relatively new with the Mauser's bolt system I do not want to force anything in order to fix the problem. I did not hear any clicks or snap to indicate something breaking, and as far as I can tell the only thing that happened is the firing spring has decompressed and the very tip of the firing pin is protruding from the bolt face. I am requesting any knowledgable Mauser owner's, fans and experts to shed any light on my current situation. If you have any information for me please post it here or email me at [email protected]
Thanks again and keep shootin straight! |

Just grab it in something sturdy and twist it back the other way. They were designed to be used in trenches and battlefields, there is probably nothing you can do to disable it (short of using a hammer on it, I suppose).

emcon5, that will recock it. If you knew anything at all about Mauser bolt actions, you would realize this.

I think that this is a sufficient reason to go buy another Mauser...

Put on some safety glasses
Hold the bolt very firmly with left hand (the handle end away away from your body) Put one finger around the bolt handle for leverage Take a fat flathead screwdriver and push against the end piece at the bottom of the slot (away from your face/body) It should be angled away from you for safety Once the end piece clears the retaining collar, the safety paddle will swing free..... This will take a little strength, because the bolt has a strong spring This will be what you need. Screw the cap down and you are good to go I just put my mauser bolt in the way that you put it in (because its happened to me before) Thats the way I fixed it I havent tried to put it in a vise and "twist it over" but believe that may not work.... I could be wrong Last edited by dean1818; July 26, 2010 at 04:10 PM. |

The old timers method is as above. Simple and direct.
Grab the bolt handle with one hand. Grab the bolt shroud with the other. Twist the bolt shroud clockwise and it'll re-cock. Insert it back in the rifle and put the safety in the middle position. Then you can disassemble as normal. It may help to wear a glove or use a rubber pad jar lid opener. This is no more than re-cocking the bolt just like it re-cocks when in the rifle. |

Thank you very much for the infor
I finally got around to fixing my bolt lock up dilema with my yugo mauser. All i had to do was hold the upside down bolt assembly firmly (and perpendicularly) to a padded table and pull down to recock it lol. Much easier than i thought it was be. Anyways, i just wanted to thank all of you kinf folks for taking the time to help me out.
Until next time, keep shooting straight ; ) |
