Bench rest primers

What's the difference in bench rest primers and standard primers?

Thanks

You mean benchrest I think. If so then they are generally more consistant from primer to primer. This adds a little more uniformity to your loads.

Yes you are probably correct, bench rest. My bad.

So they are essentially the same primer, just "better"?

Thanks

Yep - at least....

That's the idea - more effort spent on quality control and as the man said - consistancy.....same shot each time, so you can plan, and obviously load with confidence.

I use CCI's benchrest - they have never steered me wrong yet.

God bless.

Read an article once about benchrest primers versus standard primers and the only difference is---they put there best most consistent PEOPLE troweling in the primer mix. The priming mix is troweled in by hand into a large mold called a charge plate with many holes in it. It's the same cups and anvils and mix, just their best people to spread the priming mix . Plus, supposedly more quality control of the process and materials.

use the cci benchrest and when compared to the normal primers i notice less variance in my fps and groups are usually tighter.

not really worth the extra cash unless you shoot competitions, but for me i snag them up whenever i can. lately benchrest primers are all i can get in stock here locally.
