22LR and Powder

I was in Cabela's today and for the second trip in just two weeks I saw 22LR and reloading powder on the shelf. This was the most of both powder and 22 I've seen in over 2 years. So is this the beginning of the end of the shortages? Or is this just a shift to some other shortage?

There is no shortage.

There is (unnatural and unwarranted) increased demand.

That is all.

If demand exceeds supply, by definition there is a shortage -- even if the supply remains at the same level it was before the demand increased.

There IS a shortage of .22LR. Whether the cause is more new shooters needing more ammunition to practice, or hoarding and "flipping," or (most likely) a combination of those factors, doesn't alter the fact that it has been a couple of years or more since Wal-Mart has had .22LR on the shelves on a daily basis.

These threads seem to be making a comeback, so I'm going to remind everyone that we have one thread, 'The New "Where is everything?" thread (3.0) -- guns, ammo, primers, powder, etc...' for discussions of the price and availability of these things. Feel free to post on this topic there, but we don't need endless threads on the same subject.
