70 series or 80 series
i have a 70 series 38 super slide and a essex frame i am putting it on.
all the 38 super ejectors i have dont fit into the slide, they hit the back of slide, aka dont fit in the slot in the slide. i know they arent 45 ejectors, is there a 70 series ejector and a 80 series ejector????

Not sure, but I know the profile on my .38 Special 1911 conversion ejector is different than the profile on my .45 ACP 1911.
I tried putting a Marvel conversion on the .38 Special frame (it was a .38 Super before I had it converted) and the Marvel would not fit because of the profile on the ejector. It does fit on my .45 Gold Cup. It may not be a question of which ejector, but where it actually fits into the frame. It might be over slightly and that's why it won't let the slide function correctly. I'm just guessing here...hopefully someone has some more experience in this area.

There are specific ejectors for .38 Supers IIRC, and they should be fitted anyway by a gunmsith.

Thats short for "if I remember correctly"(IIRC).
A quick look at the latest Brownells catalog shows (for wilson combat at least) the same ejector for both 38s and 9mm. I can tell you that I put an essex slide on an STI frame, and the ejector was too tall for the notch milled in the slide. All hope is not lost, just mill (file will work) down the ejector to fit. More than likely you will have to fit it to match the rear of the slide/frame anyway. |
