What's the value of a Savage .243?
So I was just wondering what the used value of a Savage in .243 would be? It's the package they sell at Wal Mart that has the Savage .243 with the accu trigger and then a cheap Simmons scope that comes on it. New they are close to $400 + tax at Wal Mart. If used what would be a good price for one? Also what would be a great price for one? Not many seem to be for sale in this area for me to compare them to.

I would pay $250 for one used.. The scope that comes with them has no value to me as it needs to be replaced before I ever shoot the gun...

I agree, the value is solely in the value of the rifle itself. Savage (as well as the other manufacturers) do their customers a disservice by including those crap scopes in the package deals.

personally, I believe you'd be better off paying a little more and getting a remington 700. i started with a savage and quickly sold it for a Remmy...

It's funny how much money I'm spending to get my remingtons to shoot as good as my savages do out of the box... My new 700 CDL that will not shoot as good as a $329 stevens is pretty pathetic... |

Savages are good rifles minus the shoddy package scopes that come on them.....If all you're lookin' for is a rifle that shoots 1MOA out of the box and doesn't cost a grip of cash. I've seen a bunch of them that have been in constant use for 20+ years.

You don't have to own a rifle to gather intel on it. I've seen enough Kimber Montanas to know they're a good rifle, but I've never hunted one.

I didn't say I'd never seen one. They're in gun stores all over the place. A club for every golfer.
