Traded my Tomcat

Well after reading all the stories about cracked frames in the Beretta Tomcat I decided to trade mine away. I have had it for over 10 years but have fired it very little.

Anyway that and 5 boxes of shells sent me home with a KelTek P11.

Hope it works out okay. In the last 7 days I have gone form the purchase of a Colt Delta Elite down to this one. Will probably be a week or two before I can try them out.

You should have got a Seecamp instead of the Beretta. They are the Cadillac of .32 pocket pistols. Very high quality and well made.

A dealer that I know currently has them in stock and on sale for only $439. See:

A wise trade. My Beretta developed a crack in the frame after 6 months, around 250rds or so.

My Tomcat lasted about 200 rounds. Colt made a great "pocket pistol", the model of 1903. Of course it's a little bigger than the Seecamp.

I'm suprised to see so many Tomcats with the frame cracking. I thought about buying one before I bought my Ruger LCP and thought the frame cracking was limited to the early versions of the Tomcats.

Mine lasted 2 mags before it cracked. Beretta has had it for almost 3 months and still haven't heard from them. I called the first part of January and was told it would be another 6 weeks. I'm getting rid of it as soon as I get it back.

After dealing with their customer service:barf: ,I will never own another Beretta!!!

Really too bad, since the little bobcat is a great pistol (ignoring feeding issues).

Guess the .32 is a little too much power for that kind of pistol design. And I kind of wanted a Tomcat .

That's what I'd expect from an 'alloy' frame. I haven't bought a Beretta because of the aluminum frames. They made a model in the 30's that was all steel, I'd like to find one.

HisSoldier,

Beretta made a model 1934 in .380 and a model 1935 in .32. I have the 1934, very nice, all steel. Mine was Italian Army issue, so you know it didn't see much service.

PointOneSeven,
get one in stainless, they have a better reputation.

Yes, and the rare all steel (Not stainless) model 92 with the pinkish plating runs up to $2500! The Vertec I think is the name.

I'm not sure but I think they made a lot of 1934's with alloy frames, no? I saw one for sale and the frames was a slightly different color, which could mean nothing at all. They stopped making 1934's in either 1980 or 1991(?), so it's hard fro me to imagine that the later ones weren't alloy framed. I simply don't know, but I sure want to be sure before I buy one. Here's one with alloy frame;http://www.gunsamerica.com/937682442...Model_1934.htm
