What type of press do you use most? - Page 2

Turret press, Because I only own the Lee Classic turret.

It is all I need in a press.

I'm usually reloading for hunting, so I prefer single stage due to volume of rounds loaded. Also, I'm kind of ocd about how precise my hunting loads are.

Turret because that is all I have. Planning on buying a single stage though for rifle rounds. It will probably be a Lee.

I have an RCBS Turret that gets the most use, for pistol calibers mostly ( 44, 41, 45, and 9mm). I have an older 3 hole Lee non indexing turret I use mostly for rifle loads and I just bought a used Rock Chucker yesterday that I haven't mounted yet. I need to get off of here and go mount it on the bench and try it out.

Voted turret, Lee 4-hole Classic to be precise. Load all of my handgun cartridges with it. Load development and rifle on the Forster Co-Ax. The only presses I own.

I am still using the same Lee Beech Lock Challenger press after a year and half of reloading. I keep telling myself that I am going to buy a turret press. Yet when I get the cash it seems to go to more supplies, or a new gun.

Hard to answer, so I went "other".

Define "most".

Most time involved per round - Single stage, since the rifle rounds require multiple trips through the press.

Most rounds per time involved - progressive.

I use a Lee pro 1000 progressive for 38 / 357. When looking for a press to start reloading last year I specifically wanted a progressive. Single stage / turret are too slow for my needs. In the beginning, about 50 pcs were loaded one at a time to check press operation and it has been full load ever since.

Three of my eight presses are turrets and I do almost all my rifle loading on them. However, I don't use them as others do.
I dedicate turret stations to particular dies for particular rifles and just move the turret from one station to another based on what caliber I am loading. So the dies never move once set for a particular rifle. The stations are numbered and there is a chart that shows which station is for a particular rifle. You can just make out the 2-page charge posted on the outside of the bookshelf about the green Reloading Information book.

I have 3 presses: RCBS Jr, CH 4 station, and Dillon 650. The dillon is used for high volume pistol cases, 45 Colt & 45 ACP. The CH 4 station gets used for low volume loading using two stations so I can seat in one and crimp in the other with one lever pull. The RCBS gets the job of FL sizing all pistol and rifle fired cases, after which I inspect all cases and clean the case lube from them. That's the way I do things.

For my hunting and target loads they get loaded on the Co/Ax

My .45acp and .223 plinkers get loaded on the Classic Turret

For shotshell, I just got a screaming deal on a Mec 9000 for 12ga, that will see most of my shotshell reloading.

I'm with cpaspr on this. High volume ammo (pistol and 25-20) is done on the AP. The lesser rifles on the Co-Ax, and the .50BMG on the Lee and Walnut Hill.
