You can use your 9mm (9X19) dies with 9x21 and 9x23.

$

Highly recommend acquiring correct caliber die set; RCBS or Lyman.

And the answer is .... sort of.

I load for my 9x23 Win. I loaded with normal 9x19 dies for a while.

My suggestion would be to buy a 9x23 Win sizing die from someone. The 9x23 Win is slightly different from either 9x19 or 38 Super, another die that folks sometimes use. The 9x23 is tapered, and I beleive the 9x19 is not (correct me if I'm wrong).

Now, the 9x19 dies will work, but I don't think the brass comes out exactly right. I know that I had problems with the rounds; not severe problems, just little ones.

The biggest problem I have with loading the 9x23 Win is the fact that I have to lube every third or fourth case. I have ripped the base off four or five cases. I think this is due to the thickness of the case wall on the 9x23 Win brass, at least that manufactured by Winchester.

A point I'd like to make about the Winchester brass. This case is tough! It's able to handle very high (for a pistol) pressure. That is what makes the performance of this "fast nine" so great. I know that Starline makes brass in 9x23 Win, but I'm not sure it's as tough as the Winchester. Be careful if you change your brand of brass!!

Consider yourself corrected. The 9x19 has the same taper as the 9x23, just over a shorter length. Which means that a 9x23 sized in a 9x19 die will have a straight neck as the longer round comes clear through the insert (if carbide.) I don't know if a real 9x23 die has enough longer carbide insert to get it just right, but from what you say, it does.

The Starline brass is for 9mm Super Comp which has the same external dimensions as 9x23 Win but is not as thick, heavy, or hard. Loads at the high end differ enough to matter at 50,000. So you are right there. I would not consider them interchangeable... if I had the gun, which I don't.
