Safe Safe storage
I'm starting to run into a crowding issue with long guns in my safe. Every time my rifles bump each other I cringe. I was looking into getting some gun socks to slip over my guns to help protect the finish while they sit in the safe. Good idea or not? I know storing guns in a soft case can make them rust, but is this true with gun socks? What ones do you guys use and like?
Thanks a lot, Devin |

I am no expert but I have seen first hand when my buddy's house burned down that every rifle in his safe that had a sock survived unscathed. Those that had no sock and were right next to those with socks had plenty of heat damage to stocks scopes and plastic parts and finish.
When he rebuilt he also socked ALL his rifles in the new safe. As a side note, all handguns on the top shelves suffered except those stored in their boxes whether cardboard or plastic. Rust? He never had trouble wit it. Keep in mind this is only ONE example. |

Thanks for the tip. Those bore store things look great. I hate the idea of my stuff getting beat up, they look like they will help a lot.

I put nearly everything in socks, and don't have problems.
